Procedure
What am I? Picture game. Start by drawing a line vertically on the board - do
hey know what it is yet? Add a circle to the top of the line…let them guess
Lead-in
again. Keep adding body parts until the children have guessed it’s a body.
Pre teach the words in the song and concept check meaning in feedback.
E.g. point to your head and say ‘head’, encourage the children to repeat
and point to their heads. Do the same with the other lexis from the song.
Pre teach
Then point without saying the word- the sts have to say it, alternate chorus
vocab
responses and nominating. Concept check meaning- e.g. point to your nose
and say ‘head?’. Distribute flashcards and names of parts of the body. Sts
match the cards in pairs/small groups. Feedback- nominate to come up to
the front of the class and mount the picture and the corresponding word.
Drill pronunciation again.
Predictive
Tell the sts they are going to listen to the song. Distribute pictures of a
skills
person/ monster, etc. One per group- ask the sts to tick the parts of the
body they think the song is about.
Eitreh sing or play a recording of Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.
Listening
Sts listen to find out whether the song is happy or sad. You may also check
for gist
some of their predictions. Show the actions for the song. Place both hands
on parts of the body as they are mentioned.
Listening
Children listen to the song and have to touch the body parts as they are
for detailed
mentioned along with the song.
